This is a shell script that automatically determines the system type. With your own NTP servers, or if you have permission to poll some servers more frequently, setting these options for shorter polling intervals may significantly improve the accuracy of the system clock. The allow command is used to designate a particular subnet from which NTP clients are allowed to access the computer as an NTP server. It has two parameters, stepping threshold in seconds and number of future clock updates for which will be the threshold active. Within minutes the RTC had been reset back to the correct time. In the second example, the allow all 1.

The hwtimestamp directive has the following options: This file configures the chronyd daemon. The mlockall 2 man page has more details.
There is also a cmddeny all directive with similar behaviour to the cmdallow all directive. Comment 24 Steve Tyler The leapsectz directive must be used with this option and the database must be kept up to date in order for this correction to work as expected.
If the master chroy rebooted, chronyd can re-read the drift rate from the drift file.
The delete command allows an NTP server or peer to be removed from the current set of sources. By default, chronyd is configured to listen for commands only from localhost Chronyc can be built with support for line editing, this allows you to use the cursor keys to replay and edit old commands.
To authorize, use the authhash and password commands as follows:. One of the major tasks of chronyd is to work out how fast or how slow the system clock runs relative to real time – e. Fallback drifts are long-term averages of the system clock drift calculated over exponentially increasing intervals. It is safest to attach them to the start of each source file to most effectively convey the exclusion of warranty; and each file should have at least the “copyright” line and a pointer to where the full notice is found.
The filter will reduce the specified number of samples to a single sample. This field shows how long ago was the time smoothing process updated, e.
Flag indicating whether the sample comes from PPS source. The maximum allowed slew rate can be set by the maxslewrate directive. With older versions, you need to authenticate with the password command first or use the -a option to authenticate automatically on start.
Now that the software is successfully installed, the next step is to set up a configuration file.
– RTC is not updated
The initstepslew directive can also be used in an isolated LAN environment, where the clocks are set manually. They are defined as a power of 2 in seconds. A computer that is synchronised to a stratum 1 computer is at stratum 2.
Comment 17 Steve Tyler On Linux with the default maxslewrate value see section maxslewrate the correction takes 12 seconds. This allows the maxdelayratio option for one of the sources to be modified, in the same way as specifying the maxdelayratio option for the server directive in the configuration file see xhrony server.
Post by Miroslav Lichvar I’m wondering if cbrony should add older versions of the manual to the website. Path to the directory to save the measurement history across restarts of chronyd assuming no changes are made to the system clock behavior whilst it is not running.
Configuring NTP Using the chrony Suite
In older chrony versions if the limit was set to 0, the memory allocation was unlimited. They can be selected and used for synchronisation only if they agree with the trusted and required source.
The smoothing process is implemented with a quadratic spline rct with two or three pieces. It can be used on computers with intermittent connection to their time sources, to warn chronyd that the connection is about to be broken.
The smoothing chrpny displays the current state of the NTP server time smoothing. The default limit is bytes, which is sufficient for monitoring about four thousand clients at the same time. Comment 50 Fedora Update System
