My onboard ethernet port got hit by lightning recently.
Pinging gives me this oan I can see that, because the light on the port would not go off even when there’s no LAN cable attached to it and it dissapeared mytesriously from the device manager. How satisfied are you with this reply?

Have you checked the Device Manager to make sure that it is using the proper drivers? Sorry this didn’t help. Did this solve your problem? So it musn’t be a cable issue I believe. Without proper drivers you might not be able to use that card with Windows 8. It sounds as if Windows installed just a generic driver but it is not allowing it to connect to the network. I thought that was it, but when Sfe-520tx tried pinging to my router, it almost failed everytime.
